3344 Star Trek
On this day we learned about the importance of communication. After watching the Star Trek episode I learned how communication plays in our life, not only in the classroom but out in the real world as well. This Episode highlighted how one person strives so much to understand the language of another person. At the end of the episode we learn that the Alien creature sacrificed his life to save another human being. The communication barrier was a big role in this episode. After all, we should try to incorporate how well communication will play in our life. Children come from many different backgrounds, each of these backgrounds show how communication can be so different than each other.

Presentations!
Wow! My group ended up going first. It was really scary for me but my group and I did a great job. I was very happy on the outcome as well. The class seemed to enjoy it as well. By looking at the other comments from other blogs I see everyone else agrees with me.
Group 2 did a great job as well. They involved the class group in recycling. They did an amazing job on the show that they gave. I'm surprised on how advanced technology has gone. They were able to make a great advanced PowerPoint. I've learned a lot from this group and hopefully I can gain knowledge from the future presentations coming up.

HOW TO DISAPPEAR COMPLETELY AND NEVER BE FOUND
by Sara Nickerson
Ages 10-up
This is a mysterious book that is great for children ages 10 and up.
"Margaret's father has been dead four years. He was a champion swimmer who drowned. Now Margaret's mother chain smokes, bites her fingernails, and sleeps all weekend --- every weekend. Margaret and her little sister Sophie know that they can't mention their father."
Different suspense happens in this book. What is with the island and the mother?
Let's Go!: The Story of Getting from There to Here by Lizann Flatt and illustrated by Scot Ritchie
This story tells about transportation from the Ice Age to today and beyond. Through this book we see the first travelers who migrate to North America on foot carrying backpacks and pulling their possessions in travois. We see European ships arriving carrying horses which become a major mode of transportation for quite some time. We see the invention of the steam engine, trains, streetcars, cars, and airplanes. How will we get around in the future? Flatt poses this question in the end. Will space travel become as common as automobile travel?
This website gives great information on different children's books. As you look through this websitde you will find new and interesting things!

3321 Read aloud Video
Read aloud video was great to watch.
You really are reminded of the different books you read as a child growing up. Reading aloud to children is the most single most important thing to do to a child. It also builds their reading vocabulary throughout their life. As you read to a child, it will continue to build with them and will become a daily routine. By having your students engaged in a reading aloud, they will all gain a lot from the experience. As teachers, giving that little extra enthusiasm will influence a child in reading!
