Author Profile/ Chapter 6
Chapter six talked about the importance of traditional literature. This type of literature is from the perspective of different cultures. Growing up as a child, I remember so many stories I’ve heard. Little did I know, these types of stories are traditional stories which are from my cultural beliefs from my family. These types of stories are usually told to explain the orgin of things, to teach values, explor human consciousness, and to entertain,

I saw this on another blog and thought I should use it to since I’m so familiar with this author. Mercer Mayer, who is most known from his books, "Little Critter", is an excellent author who incorporates friendship and manners into his books to teach to the young ones. This website http://www.littlecritter.com, gives a list on what books he has wrote including many different activities.

I also remember stories that were told to me as a child. Thinking about them now after I have read this chapter I can see how my family culture is reflected in them. It's interesting how my culture's values and morals influenced me through these stories with out me reconizing it.

I too remember stories told to me as a child. Most of the stories were probably legends or tales but they were interesting and some were scarry at the time. One particular story was the one about the Crying Woman in Spanish La Llorona. This story was about a woman who drowned her kids and then roamed the world crying for them. I always enjoyed hearing stories from my grandparents and my older uncles and aunts.
